My paintings are not of a single thought or moment in time but the accumulation of actions and reactions over a period of many weeks or months. Each painting begins without intention. Through a series of small serendipities, layers of color and texture are created that ultimately form a surface that is wrought with pencil lines, scrapings, brush strokes, marks, and splattered paint. Ultimately I hope that the finished surface reveals an essence and mood that is unique to the painting.
I use premium grade oils and mediums on 300 lb. watercolor paper, usually Arches or Fabriano. I also paint on traditional stretched canvas.
